Causes and Solutions for Heating of Ultrasonic Horn

Ultrasonic horn is a common part of ultrasonic equipment, which is customized by products and normally be used for welding and cutting. What should we do if the mold is getting hot during the welding process?

The following is the main reasons and the solution, the following points are for reference only, specific problems are analyzed, contact with us if you met these kinds of problems

1. Screws

i: The screws on the mold are loose. If the screw is loose, the ultrasonic head will also become hot.

Solution: You can remove the mold and then install and tighten it.

ii: The screw broke in the mold

The screw breaks in the mold, which can also cause the mold to burn

Solution: Remove the broken screw and replace it with a screw to tighten the mold

2. Mold

i: The ultrasonic upper mold is damaged

Because the ultrasonic upper mold is in direct contact with the product, it will wear out after a long time and cause the frequency to change. Or a small crack in the upper mold causes the upper mold to become hot due to excessive current.

Solution: Find the original manufacturer to repair the mold or replace the mold.

Ii: The machine frequency does not match the ultrasonic mold frequency – it is also possible that it will not be used directly

The welding machine is divided into automatic frequency tracking and manual frequency tracking, if the frequency does not match, the mold will also be hot

Solution: Automatic or manual frequency tracking to keep the frequency consistent

3. Oscillator & power board

i: The impedance of the vibrator becomes larger so that the energy cannot be completely transferred to the product

The vibrator is composed of a transducer and a titanium alloy luffing rod, and the performance decay (impedance increase) may occur after a long time of use, resulting in a decrease in the conversion efficiency of energy power, causing hotting.

Solution: It is best to find the original manufacturer to repair or replace the transducer.

ii: The ultrasonic power plate does not match the vibrator

The new intelligent ultrasonic welding machine has a power board for controlling parameters such as power supply power, and when the parameters do not match the parameters required by the vibrator, there will be a hot phenomenon.

Solution: Because the ultrasonic welding machine will be debugged before it leaves, this situation is rare

Ultrasonic horn heat is a normal phenomenon, because the ultrasonic welding machine mainly generates heat through vibration friction, so that the parts that need to be welded to the product are melted and riveted, and a large amount of heat will be generated during operation, and the heat will be quickly dissipated after the riveting is completed

This problem may be caused by the operating environment of the machine, and the ultrasonic welding machine should be placed in a ventilated and cool place to ensure that the welding head can dissipate heat in time.

Solution: Place a trachea next to the welding head to assist in heat dissipation.

If the ultrasonic head is frequently hot and continues, it means that there is a problem with the components, and we mainly need to check the problem of the upper mold itself, the vibrator (the combination of the transducer and the amplitude rod is called the vibrator), and the ultrasonic power plate.
